April 19, 2005
Carol,
Back in February, it came to my attention that Indiana had placed something into the national driver register against my SSN. As it turned out, it was related to an identity theft problem wherein the state of Indiana issued three different identification cards, including one drivers license, to people other than me. In spite of the fact that this issue was known by Indiana authorities, at least one person (Richard R. Brown) was arrested and served an 18-month jail sentence, the State of Indiana neglected to remove the incorrect information against my SSN.
This caused me all kinds of grief and, much to my dismay, caused me to waste the only week of vacation that I've had in nearly a year.
So, to say I'm pissed is an understatement.
You wrote a letter to me dated February 8, 2005 wherein you stated that I do not appear to be the person on file. I know that I'm definitely not the person on file and I even offered to come to Indianapolis to get this all addressed immediately. I have little tolerance for these kinds of gross problems. It's irritating.
It is now April 19. I have called and left a message for you at least three times now, once directly on your voicemail. I also wrote a letter to you dated February 22, 2005, to which I never received a reply. (See attached.)
The last time I checked in the National Driver Register (about 3 weeks ago), that incorrect information still existed in there. The folks in Washington said that it was up to Indiana to remove it and that Indiana should remove it. I'm still waiting.
When will this incorrect information be removed? Is it going to take a court order to get my name cleared? I've never seen anything like this in my life.
Paul
