Governor Daniels,
For nearly a year and a half, I have been trying to work with the Indiana BMV to get them to stop publishing false information about me to the National Driver Register-- something they have been doing since 2002, in fact. Silverman is holding the position that he is abiding by Indiana law and I am convinced that he is breaking federal law. At the very least, he is abusing the National Driver Register and the Chief of the NDR agrees with me.
The reason this issue is so serious is that Indiana is reporting to the nation that I have a suspended driver's license due to a case of stolen identity. This case is well documented by the Indiana State Police, with the criminal already brought to justice.
Reporting this false information puts me at risk of be arrested any day while driving down the road for "driving on a suspended driver's license." After a night in jail, I'm sure I could get any such arrest sorted out, but this is the life I have to live!
Silverman has proven to be very difficult to work with, even going so far as to send me a letter threatening to have me prosecuted! The BMV says that I am harassing, while I am doing nothing but try to solve a problem: and it is a problem only the BMV can solve.
I have the entire written dialog posted here:
I plead with you: please instruct Silverman to remove my SSN from the records that they have on file and for which they know do not belong to me.
Kindest Regards,
Paul E. Jones
