Funny Java Advertisement
I know there are many fans of Java. It has grown to be an extremely popular programming language that, quite frankly, surprised me. Well, it has a nice syntax, largely borrowed from C++, but it's an interpreted environment! Why people insist on writing code that one knows at the outset will never be as optimal as a C or C++ program is beyond me. Oh, it's for the portability? Don't even go there. There are a few good examples where that's true (e.g., some application that should run in a web browser), but why on Earth write a server application that should have high performance in Java? People do and I just shake my head in disbelief. Is there not a target server platform?
As you can imagine I found the advertisement below to be so funny. Java is made out to be a race car, while whatever database engine they're referring to looks like a tractor. Somebody has been drinking too much Kool-Aid. Really, they have.
